Oman and Rwanda Sign Aviation Cooperation MoU to Boost Air Transport and Infrastructure

April 12, 2026 - The Oman Airports Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rwanda’s Aviation Travel and Logistics (ATL) group to strengthen cooperation in aviation development and related infrastructure projects. The agreement, announced on April 11, 2026, establishes a framework for collaboration between the two parties in areas including airport land development, air transport infrastructure, workforce training, and broader aviation services. ATL, a Rwandan state-linked aviation and logistics holding company established in 2015, brings together several entities including RwandAir, Airports Company Rwanda Ltd, Akagera Aviation, Rwanda Tours & Events, and Rwanda Links Logistics. Under the MoU, both sides are expected to explore investment opportunities and technical cooperation aimed at expanding airport capacity and improving operational efficiency. The partnership comes amid growing aviation ties between the two countries. Oman Air has confirmed plans to launch direct flights to Kigali in June 2026, a move expected to strengthen tourism, trade, and business connectivity between East Africa and the Gulf region. Officials from both countries say the agreement reflects a shared interest in positioning their aviation sectors as regional hubs, with a focus on infrastructure modernization and skills development.
