Bamako, April 10, 2026 - Future pilgrims from Mali have begun structured physical preparation sessions ahead of the 2026 Hajj, as part of a joint initiative by government ministries aimed at improving pilgrims’ fitness and readiness. The program was launched under the supervision of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Worship, and Customs in coordination with the Ministry of Sports. It brings together men and women selected for the pilgrimage in guided fitness sessions designed to strengthen endurance and physical capacity. Participants responded in large numbers to the call, taking part in exercises in an atmosphere described as both disciplined and encouraging. Organizers say the initiative is intended to ensure that pilgrims are physically prepared to complete the demanding rites of the Hajj under optimal conditions. The effort is also part of a broader national fitness promotion policy led by the Ministry of Sports, which aims to integrate physical well-being programs across different government sectors. Officials emphasized that the initiative reflects a holistic approach to pilgrimage preparation, combining both spiritual readiness and physical conditioning to support a successful Hajj experience.
