Djiboutian Gendarmerie Deploys Peacekeeping Contingent to Central African Republic

Djibouti, April 6, 2026 - A contingent of gendarmes from the fourth rotation of the Joint Force departed Djibouti at dawn on April 6 for deployment to the Central African Republic, underscoring the country’s continued participation in international peacekeeping operations. The deployment took place under the supervision of the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, Zakaria Hassan Aden, who oversaw the departure alongside senior military officials. The personnel boarded a United Nations-chartered aircraft as part of their mission to support stability and security operations in the Central African Republic, reinforcing Djibouti’s role in regional and international peace efforts. Speaking at the departure ceremony, Colonel Zakaria Hassan Aden expressed pride in the departing troops and emphasized the importance of their mission. He urged them to uphold discipline and courage in defending the principles of peace and security in line with Djibouti’s international commitments. He also acknowledged the support of the President of the Republic, Ismail Omar Guelleh, noting that sustained institutional backing has made such deployments possible.
