More than 40 of roughly 50 local health facilities had closed after the Ebola treatment centre was wrecked on June 30 by residents contesting the epidemic’s existence; many health workers fled to Niania.
Patients often arrive only at a late stage, raising fatality risk.
This detail was included in the mid-to-late July DRC briefing.
Authorities said measures were being prepared to contain spread from the mining settlement.
