Rubanda Councillors Demand End to Samcrete Bunyonyi Road Contract
Rubanda, Uganda, July 31, 2026 - District councillors urged the Ministry of Works and Transport to terminate Samcrete Egypt Engineers and Contractors over the deteriorating Kabale-Lake Bunyonyi tourism road.
Rubanda, Uganda, July 31, 2026 - District councillors urged the Ministry of Works and Transport to terminate Samcrete Egypt Engineers and Contractors over the deteriorating Kabale-Lake Bunyonyi tourism road.
They said the contractor abandoned sections after preliminary works, leaving hazardous stretches that recently saw a vehicle break through damaged pavement.
Leaders representing Habuhutu-Mugyera and Kashasha town councils framed the delays as both a safety and tourism-economy risk on one of southwestern Uganda’s signature routes.
