Mambasa, July 29, 2026 - Health officials reported about 100 community deaths linked to Ebola in one week at kilometre point 51 (PK51) in Mambasa Territory, with 10 to 15 deaths a day cited by the Niania health-zone chief.

More than 40 of roughly 50 local health facilities had closed after the Ebola treatment centre was wrecked on June 30 by residents contesting the epidemic’s existence; many health workers fled to Niania.

Patients often arrive only at a late stage, raising fatality risk.

This detail was included in the mid-to-late July DRC briefing.

Authorities said measures were being prepared to contain spread from the mining settlement.
