Kasai-Central Orders Immediate Removal of Illegal Road Barriers

Kananga, July 29, 2026 - Kasai-Central’s provincial interior minister, Kamayi Méroé, ordered the immediate suppression of illegal barriers and fake tax posts after bicycle transporters known as Bayanda denounced repeated roadside shakedowns.

Territory administrators and sector chiefs were instructed to enforce the measure without delay, with sanctions threatened against any service that erects unauthorised barriers.

Transporters said they previously had to stop and pay at multiple points on each trip and asked for sustained enforcement.
