Hoima, Uganda, July 31, 2026 - Authorities opened a Bunyoro regional migrant-workers support centre in Hoima City to offer information, data collection, rehabilitation and complaint-handling for Ugandans returning from foreign employment.

Local Government Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya said the office would prioritise returnees-especially women from Gulf destinations-with backing from the Gender ministry and the International Organization for Migration.

The hub aims to shorten the path from distress abroad to local redress.

This detail was included in the mid-to-late July UGANDA briefing.
