UNICEF Says at Least 23 Children Killed in North Kordofan Since May

Khartoum, Sudan, July 28, 2026 - UNICEF said at least 23 children had been killed and 25 injured in North Kordofan since late May as violence intensified around water points, schools and displacement routes.

The agency linked the toll to escalating drone and ground fighting.

Child protection partners said the figures were likely undercounts where verification remains impossible.
