President Kagame meets with Gen Muhoozi on regional security

The talks that brought together the two sides took place in Kigali on 25 July 2026, when Gen Muhoozi was on a working visit to Rwanda.

It is expected that during the two-day visit, Gen Muhoozi will discuss with senior Rwandan military leaders on strengthening military-to-military relations between the two countries.

A message posted on the X account of the Office of the Head of State Village Urugwiro reads: “President Kagame received the Chief of Defence Staff of Uganda, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Their discussions focused on the strong relationship between Rwanda and Uganda, peace and security in the region.” Gen Muhoozi was last in Rwanda in March 2025.

At that time, he discussed with senior Rwandan military leaders on bilateral cooperation, and visited the Nyakinama Military Academy in Musanze District.

At this academy, Gen Muhoozi delivered lectures on cooperation between African countries in maintaining peace and security.
