Bunia, Ituri, July 31, 2026 - The provincial civil-society coordination Forces Vives d’Ituri urged authorities to enforce the military governor’s order dismantling illegal barriers, saying soldiers still collect money from travellers on some roads.

Coordinator Dieudonné Lossa said illegal checkpoints remain a top public grievance and fuel both harassment and insecurity.

This detail was included in the mid-to-late July DRC briefing.

The appeal follows field reports that rackets persist on axes including Bunia-Bogoro despite a July 25 province-wide instruction.
