Exports Hit About Shs4.97 Trillion in May

Kampala, Uganda, July 20, 2026 - Monthly export earnings reached about Shs4.97 trillion in May, according to trade figures highlighted in business coverage, signalling continued foreign-exchange inflows from commodities and regional trade.

Coffee, gold and other traditional and non-traditional exports remain central to the balance of payments.

Authorities have used stronger export months to argue that productive sectors are responding to market incentives.
