Kinshasa, July 29, 2026 - The C64 coalition rejected the Constitutional Court’s clearance of the referendum organisation law as null and void, accusing the court of “judicial rebellion” and complicity in what it called a plot against constitutional order.

Ensemble secretary-general Dieudonné Bolengetenge read a joint declaration saying the ruling opens the way to Balkanisation and exposes those involved to high-treason sanctions under Congolese law.

C64 listed four red lines it said Congolese should not accept: circumvention of the Constitution, personalisation of institutions, constitutional change, and a third presidential term.

The statement hardened opposition messaging even as the same coalition had suspended street protests to give dialogue until August 15 a chance.
