Bamako, Mali, July 29, 2026 - The Tribunal de Grande Instance of Bamako’s Commune VI opened its first criminal session, taking up cases including rape, assassination and child sexual abuse under newly transferred jurisdiction.

The prosecutor said moving major crimes to TGIs should accelerate dockets and reduce backlog.

This detail was included in the mid-to-late July MALI briefing.

Reformers present the sessions as a test of judicial reorganisation after years of congestion at older venues.
