Cairo, April 2, 2026 - Mali intensified its diplomatic engagement on migration governance during a series of high-level meetings held on the sidelines of an African ministerial gathering in Cairo. Representing Mali, the Minister of Malians Abroad and African Integration, Mossa Ag Attaher, met with senior Egyptian officials to advance cooperation on migration-related issues. Among the key engagements, the Malian minister was received by Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister in charge of Emigration and Expatriates. Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in migration governance and aligning efforts within the framework of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. The meetings provided an opportunity to deepen dialogue between Mali and Egypt, building on longstanding ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two countries. Officials described the exchanges as constructive, emphasizing their importance in strengthening bilateral coordination and reinforcing shared approaches to migration challenges at both regional and international levels.
