Bamako, June 4, 2026 - Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, held talks with the Executive Secretary of the Pan-African Agency for the Great Green Wall (APGMV), Almoustapha Garba, as part of efforts to strengthen environmental diplomacy and advance regional sustainability initiatives.

During the meeting, held in Bamako, discussions centered on preparations for the regular organization of the agency’s statutory meetings, including the upcoming Conference of Heads of State and Government to be chaired under Mali’s presidency.

The exchanges also focused on strategies for mobilizing financing to support the implementation of the agency’s ten-year priority investment plan, aimed at accelerating the objectives of the Great Green Wall initiative.

Officials further discussed strategic reforms intended to strengthen the initiative as a tool for economic prosperity and environmental resilience, including plans to expand implementation through integrated and large-scale development programs across sectors under the agency’s mandate.
