Bamako, April 10, 2026 - Mali has strengthened its cooperation with the International Organization for Migration in efforts to improve coordination and governance of migration-related policies. The Minister for Malians Living Abroad and African Integration, Mossa Ag Attaher, received the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration, Dr. Boubacar Seybou, alongside his technical team for discussions in Bamako. Talks focused on reinforcing the existing dialogue framework between the ministry and the IOM, as well as ensuring regular monitoring of joint activities. Both sides reviewed the implementation of a shared roadmap that guides their cooperation on migration governance. The two parties also agreed on the need to convene a broader coordination meeting involving all relevant stakeholders to harmonize interventions and strengthen overall effectiveness in the field of migration management. Preparations for the upcoming International Migration Review Forum in New York were also discussed, with an emphasis on increasing Mali’s participation and ensuring its priorities are effectively represented at the global level.
