Government Extends Northern Cattle Restocking Horizon to 10 Years
Gulu, Uganda, July 30, 2026 - Authorities said the Northern Uganda cattle restocking programme would be extended across a 10-year horizon, reinforcing a multi-year recovery plan for Acholi, Lango and Teso households that lost livestock to conflict and raids.

Current phases have disbursed large cash grants-about Shs5 million per verified household-toward productive assets.

Officials cite tens of billions already paid to more than 12,000 households, with Shs100 billion earmarked in the next financial year, while acknowledging long-term need far exceeds the first cohorts.
