AFC/M23 has more than 9,300 new commandos

The ceremony to induct the commandos into AFC/M23 was led by senior leaders of the coalition at the military level, including its Commander-in-Chief, Gen Maj Sultani Makenga, on 20 July 2026.

Gen Maj Makenga announced that the DRC government is killing civilians, in collaboration with armed groups including Burundi, the FDLR terrorist group and the Wazalendo coalition, and the AFC/M23 is fighting to stop this killing.

He asked the new commandos who joined the AFC/M23 to join their comrades on the battlefield to defend the people and restore peace and security so that those who fled can return to their homes; and to prosper.

This fighter explained to the commandos that their operations must be different from that of the DRC army, which is accustomed to stealing, raping and killing innocent citizens, and that they must have good morals.
